Before the Olympics, FIG will also invite a few athletes to compete. They view the competitions that they have competed in, such as, Worlds, World Cup or any other international meets that will show they are ready to compete at the Olympics. Results are very important during these meets. If a well-known gymnast that has a chance to medal but is hurt during Worlds or the test event, FIG might also look at these and invite the gymnast.
